Accuracy = The average distance between the boundary of the digitally indicated AOI (Area Of Interest) and the actual boundary that was dissected

Method and result: Utilizing the 2iD software, an AOI was digitally indicated and used as a dissection guide. The percent of the circumference of the actual dissection boundary that is within either 50 or 100 microns of the intended AOI boundary was estimated by attempting to fill the difference with a line of relative width of either 50 or 100 microns. This experiment was performed on a total of 14 AOIs from three different slides.

The average accuracy of this study is ~60 microns. Accuracy is dependent on the joystick control ability of a given user, the tissue type (tissue may tear leaving a ragged edge), and the accuracy tracking of the digital AOI, which is dependent on proper calibration.
