Gel CCS Detail

Side view of the loading manifold portion of the Gel CCS prototype.

A.  The post PCR tube (1) is placed inside a carrier (2) which is inserted into a receiving position of the gel manifold (3).
B.  The tube is pressed downward against an Ultem pin (4) located in the back center of the well. (The pin and the well are 1.6 and 4.2 mm wide, respectively, measured perpendicular to plane of the figure).
C.  Pressure generated when the tube cap was closed forces liquid out through a channel (5) in the pin and into the well of the electrophoresis gel (6).
D.  Enlarged view showing bottom of the PCR tube, pin, well, and direction of nucleic acid electrophoresis (in green).
